NOTE FROM PIARA RAM & BAKSHO  KAUR
Our only son went to UK after his marriage & settled there in 1996. Like a good son, he supported us financially. After few years we desired to visit him in  UK but British High Commission refused our visitor visa on two occasions on the basis that we may not return to our country as we lived alone and our son who supported us financially lived in UK. The Entry Clearance (ECO) told us that as we are poor & no reason for returning to India. Subsequently we applied for settlement visa on the basis of parents joining their children. The visa was refused on the basis that as we were well under the age of 65 & were not living in the most exceptional & compassionate circumstances and had other close relatives to whom we could turn to for support.

We were very dejected and longed to see our son who could only visit us once in the last four years due to his family commitments. My daughter- in-law who was recommended to UKIC, contacted Mr. Chadha, an immigration lawyer who came to India especially to prepare our case and represented us at the British High Commission in New Delhi. The ECO was very convinced with the professionalism of Mr. Chadha and remarked to us that it was the submission of our immigration lawyer, which was instrumental in the ECO recognising the most compassionate & exceptional circumstances of our case. On the same day my wife & I were issued the settlement visa. We wish to thank UKIC for making our perpetual family reunion possible.
